How to make hand sanitizer at home

Whether it's store bought or home made - hand sanitizer is not as effective at killing germs as washing your hands with soap and water.

But if handwashing isn't available, you can use a good alcohol based store bought hand sanitizer to reduce the spread of germs.
Again, if you're having hard time to find a sanitizer at store or online due to over demand, in that case you can make your own home-made hand sanitizer following the steps below :

1. Get the ingredients

You will need only three ingredients to make home made sanitizer -

1. Isopropyl or rubbing alcohol, which contains 99% alcohol volume
2. Aloe vera gel
3. Essential oil of your choice

2. Mix the ingredients

For a proper measurement use 2:1 proportion of alcohol to aloe vera gel. Take 2 parts of rubbing alcohol and 1 part aloe vera gel in a clean bowl. Mix the two and then add 8 - 10 drops of essential oil, whichever you like such as lemon, clove, lavender etc. Now combine all the ingredients to make a smooth mixture.

3. Funnel the mixture

Now pour the mixture in an empty bottle. Your home made hand sanitizer is ready to use.

Use home made hand sanitizer when you don't have any other options available or you can't find a sanitizer in stores. Remember handwashing is always recommended over hand sanitizing.
