How to build good habits in place of bad habits

Did you ever realise how many years it took to build our present bad habits ?

What we repeatedly do ultimately forms who we are. Though we all know that our habits make us happy or unhappy, successful or unsuccessful, we can't change it or we try to change but keep failing to form good habits.

This is because we set very big steps and unrealistic expectations at the very first moment.

In this post I will share some small actionable steps which you must take while breaking your bad habits.
So let's begin -

1. Say NO to yourself once in a day

There are so many things we do in a day which we regret after doing. We also make promises not to do everything we want but we fail to do that. So begin with saying no once in a day.
For example, if you love chocolates try to say no to chocolates once in a day whenever you crave for it. From this once, try twice then thrice and then eat once in a week. In this way you will beat your chocolate craving and keep your promise of not eating chocolate as well.

2. Commit to complete 1 task every week

We all have our life goals and there are alot of tasks to do in order to accomplish them. Do you know why we find it hard to achieve our goals because we never looked at the small tasks to be completed. Turn your attention from that big goal to those small tasks.
Every week commit to complete  one task towards accomplishing your goals. It may take some more time but doing something is better than doing nothing. Remember don't try to do everything at the same time. Start slowly and gradually increase.

3. Consistency

No matter what you wanna achieve or what you wanna change, everything requires consistency. Though you are doing one thing in a day do that everyday if you really wanna form that habit. Consistency is the key and without consistency no habits can be formed.

3. Set realistic expectations

Habits can't be changed overnight. Remember that your present habits are results of your repeated actions from last 4-5 years or more. So it will take time to form new habits in place of others. Don't expect to happen everything right after you have started.

6.Keep a journal

Keep a checklist of your habits. Write the things that you loved doing the whole day and things that you didn't like. Keep record of your success even in a small task. You can also write about the things you are grateful for. It will help you to saty positive and motivated.

You should always set small actionable steps which are achievable. As you complete each small task your confidence will keep increasing and you won't get de-motivated. As a result you will break the bad habits and form the good one.

All the best.
